Class Instructions

I can’t wait to meet you and hear your amazing voice! During our first session, I’ll have you sing for me and ask you a bunch of questions to help you reach your goals. My mission is to help you unlock your full potential and have a blast while doing it. If there’s something specific you want to focus on during our session, just let me know. And hey, if you’re not sure, I’ll guide you in the right direction.

• Ahead of your lesson, please pick out 2-3 cover songs you’d like to learn from artists that  correspond to your gender. This helps us best develop your voice within a specific vocal range, especially at the beginning.
• Make sure there’s both a lyric track and a karaoke track with lyrics on YouTube. Click the links for examples.
• Don’t stress if you don’t have the songs down just yet. I’ll probably only have you run through the first verse and chorus.
• Bring room temperature water to keep those vocal cords hydrated!
• If you’re under 18, you can bring one guardian with you to the session otherwise sessions are closed.
• Sorry, no friends, siblings, or entourage allowed (I once had an unmentionable A-Lister bring 10 people…. and their very tiny but loud dog)!

If your lesson is on Zoom, please test your audio and video before our session. If you don’t have zoom, please download the app (not the browser plug-in) here: https://zoom.us/download

Ensure that the following settings are turned on in Zoom:

• Zoom > Preferences > Video … test that your video camera is working
• Zoom > Preferences > Audio … test your speaker and microphone to ensure they are working
• Zoom > Preferences > Audio … select ‘Original Sound for Musicians’ and ‘Echo Cancellation’ (see screenshot below)

Sharing Background Music

You’ll play your Youtube video or backing track on your computer so we can both hear it. Your microphone will pick up both the music and your voice but for the best audio possible:

• On the Zoom meeting toolbar, click the green Share Screen arrow. The share selection window will appear.
• In the window, click the Advanced tab.
• Click the Computer Audio option.
• In the bottom-right corner of the Computer Audio option, click the down arrow to view additional audio options to switch between Mono and Stereo (high fidelity) for the audio shared in the meeting.
• In the bottom-right corner, click Share to begin sharing with your device’s audio.
• Zoom will share and play your computer audio. This allows you to play music from anywhere—whether streaming services or YouTube. Meeting participants will be able to listen to your music without seeing your screen.

We understand that life (and travel) happens. That’s why we offer flexibility—with structure.

Our full Terms and Conditions can be read here, but here is a summary for quick reference.

Our system is simple and fair.

• More than 24 hours before your lesson

  Cancel or reschedule once at no cost. You receive one makeup credit that expires in 30 days. Makeup credits add an extra lesson and cannot be used to reduce or replace next month’s tuition.
• Less than 24 hours before your lesson

  You may switch to Zoom.
If you choose not to meet on Zoom, the lesson is forfeited.
• Same day cancellations and no shows

  These are forfeited. No makeup credits or refunds.
• If you are sick

  If you can talk and focus, we hold the lesson on Zoom so you do not lose it. We can work on singing, songwriting, artist development, or peak performance coaching.
 If you are too sick for Zoom, the lesson is forfeited.
• Emergency exceptions
  Hospitalization or natural disasters are reviewed case by case.

All changes to lessons must be performed by the Student within the Student Portal.
You will have been sent an invitation to the student portal at the same date and time you received your receipt

Step 1

• Log in to the student portal HERE
• You will see the calendar with two tabs: "Schedule" (for all current lessons) and "Find & Book" (for booking new lessons)

Step 2

• Click on the lesson you wish to cancel or reschedule.
• Select 'Reschedule' to be given options for other available times with your coach.
• Select 'Cancel' to cancel the lesson and receive a make-up credit.

The procedure to use a make-up credit or to schedule a new lesson outside of regular recurring lessons is identical except that the latter requires payment.

Step 1 - choose a lesson date & time.

• Log in to the student portal HERE
• You will see the calendar with two tabs: "Schedule" and "Find & Book". Choose "Find & Book"
• Select a date that suits you and follow the system dialogue to choose the exact time.

Step 2 - Payment

• Pay for your lesson either with a credit card or by using a make-up credit. 
• Make-ups only: Make-up credits expire after 30 days. They are for extra lessons only and cannot be used to replace or reduce your regularly scheduled lessons or monthly tuition.
• The calendar shows real time availability and looks several months ahead. Note that rescheduling your lesson outside of your current billing cycle triggers an automatic charge for an additional session.
