Are you taking singing lessons in Bend Oregon or Los Angeles? Do you want to make it big in the music industry? I’m guessing if your reading this, then you or someone you love, really, really does. As a singer songwriter and voice coach in this snowy land of Bend Oregon, I want to encourage you to pay special attention to the songwriting part of your career and not just take singing lessons. The reality is that if you want to be a recording artist who truly makes a difference in the world, you need to use more than your voice. As a mommy says to her 3 year old, “Use your words honey”. Songwriting literally gives you the chance to write history maybe even to change history. Think back to songs of the 60’s like Creedance Clearwater Revival, that remind of us the Vietnam War, or “We Are The World” from the 80’s. I’m sure you can think back to many more recent songs that changed your life, and that my dear is what songwriting is all about. We write to make people dance and express joy or pain, or selfishness or love, heartbreak or fun or friends and sorrow. All of those things can be expressed through the lyrics of a great song. Singing lessons are just one step in becoming a true artist. At The Golden Voice, we start by voice coaching, and then we work into Artist Development which is everything about you including your songwriting lessons. Who are you? Who do you want to be? What is your message? What makes you passionately angry or passionately happy? Why do you want the world to see? Is it for the money and fame or do you have something to say? All of these things affect what it is that you will be writing about. As your voice coach I make sure that your voice and writing has what it takes to stand on it’s own in this highly competitive city of Los Angeles (even if you live in Bend Oregon). It’s not always American Idol style “talent” per say; sometimes it’s just style and swagger. I mean, you are trying to be a rock star after all. We manifest your dreams into reality by helping you become who you were destined to be.
